What is Vendor Managed Inventory?
(VMI)
Plant Service can provide vendor managed inventory (VMI) solutions for our customers. We can manage all or certain products within your inventory. Vendor managed inventories are conducted by our salesman through physical counts or other data as provided by you. Once the inventory levels of the products reach their stated reorder points, Plant Service Company will replenish the stock.
What are the Benefits of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)?
Not having enough materials or the right materials in stock can be disastrous for a Company. Running out of necessary supplies can cause plant shutdowns, delays in production, expedited freight costs, etc. VMI can effectively reduce stock shortages when properly maintained ensuring that you continue to have enough on hand to continue production to meet your customer demands.
VMI is also beneficial in managing overstocks. Overstocked items take up space and are costly. By limiting the amount of overstocked items, you will save on storage fees as well as free up available space within your facilities.
VMI also shifts the administrative burden of inventory management from your personnel to Plant Service Company. Product inventory is constantly moving in and out. Having Plant Service Company assume the burden of managing the inventory reduces administrative work from your plant personnel allowing them to return their focus to running the business.
